The Elliptical Innerspring Deluxe Firm Crib & Toddler Mattress has 510 coils (260 Elliptical actual coils,13.5 gauge) - most crib mattresses are 180 coil - ours is firmer and will last longer). An abundant of inner 100% organic wool layered and quilted to the 100% organic cotton outer cover, a natural flame retardant. Free from chemicals and fumes and passes all safety regulations and CPSC guidelines.
This mattress is firm on one side for infants and has an extra padding on the other side for toddlers, also includes built-in side supports and can be used as a toddler bed and for those that have cribs that convert to a toddler bed.
Most crib mattresses are designed to be enclosed on all sides thus do not need the side supports, but for a toddler bed where the child will be sitting on the side, the extra support is recommended.
